John Dill aka "No Call" or "The Mailman" When did you start covering Attica sports on the radio? I started in 1990 with WBQR engineering the Sports and as a DJ, and in 1991 started doing Color and Stats.
What radio stations have you covered them on? WBQR , Bi-County Sports Network Channel 5, and now WFWR Have you ever coached Attica sports? If so, when and what? I coached little girls Softball (had the first 7-9 girls team) and Little League & helped with Babe Ruth for 17 years. Also was assistant 7th Grade Basketball Coach with Gary Schmid. About how many Attica events have you covered? (and counting......) With BI-County Sports we did almost 60 Basketball games a year including Seeger and Attica Girls, Football, and some Attica Baseball. With WFWR we have done “LIVE” broadcasts form many places and recorded the Attica Bands Veterans day, Patriotic Tribute and Christmas concerts. We have even done the Little League Attica Championship Games this past summer. Aside from the State Title, what is your favorite Rambler Sports moment? It would have to be seeing the faces of the Attica team as they came down Rambler Lane as everyone Celebrated their State Championship. But just knowing these kids and talking and teasing them is probably my favorite thing. When was the last time you went to a Varsity Football or Basketball game as a simple spectator? I would say the night Larry and I talked about getting back on the air first on Channel 5 and then WFWR. I believe that was in the fall of 1994.
How awesome is it to get to work with a talent like David Huckleberry? I don’t have the Words to describe it. And if I did you would hear them on our Sports Bloopers and our WFWR page.
How did WFWR get it's start and when? After broadcasting on Channel 5 for a few years we decided to try for a Radio License. It took 3 years and a ton of paper work before we got a construction permit. I think it was around Feb. 1998 that an application was submitted. When did WFWR go on the air? July 23, 2000. | |||||||
