Attica Author to Sign Copies of Her
Third Book at the Attica Public Library

The Attica Public Library invites you to attend Chris Woodworths' book signing on Thursday, May 15th from 5-7 PM.  Come in to get your early copy of her new chapter book for children ages 10-14, “Double Click For Trouble”.  The book published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, will not be officially released until May 27.

Her newest book is the story of 13 year old Eddie McCall.  Eddie has always been a good kid.  He does his homework, picks up around the house, and cooks dinner for his single mom when she has to work late at a Chicago hotel.  Then Eddie’s best friend, Whip, shows him an inappropriate print-out from the Internet and suddenly Eddie can’t seem to think about anything else.  When his mom learns of the sites he has been visiting, she ships him off to her hometown of Sheldon, Indiana, to live with his great-uncle Peavey for an entire month.  Peavey isn’t exactly the father figure Eddie has been looking for.  He spits tobacco juice into a can, calls a toilet a “commode”, and certainly doesn’t own a computer.

As it turns out, however, both Peavey McCall and Sheldon, Indiana, hold some very surprising secrets…

Chris captures two worlds in this tender and funny look at a boy learning what it really means to be a man.

Kirkus Review had this to say about the book, “Woodworth leavens her simply written story with well-drawn characters and quiet wisdom, making this a good choice for discussion groups.  Parents, too, might learn from Eddie’s single mother and her determination to assert parental control over her son’s use of the Internet.”

Chris’ books will sell for $16.00.  Chris is donating the profits from the sale to the library.

Chris is the author of two other chapter books for grades 4-7, “When Ratboy Lived Next Door” and “Georgie’s Moon”.

The library will not be selling copies of the book after the evening of the book signing.  Please call the Attica Public Library at 764-4194 if you have any questions.
