COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

CITY OF ATTICA

March 12th, 2007

 

 

The Common Council for the City of Attica met on the 12th day of March at the hour of 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Those present:  Mr. Bill Craft, Mr. Larry Askren, Mrs. Maus, Mr. Tom O’Connor, Mr. Deon Swift, and Ms. Sharon Negele. 

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING

Mr. Askren made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 12th, seconded by Mrs. Maus.

 

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. Jean will speak with Duke energy and the owner of the house that is scheduled to be removed to have the electric disconnected.  Mr. Snoeberger requested a transfer from the deferral and diversion fund to LEF Attica for the amount of $1,000 to allow him to purchase three sets of spike strips for each patrol car.  Mrs. Maus made a motion to prepare a resolution for the requested transfer and Mr. Askren seconded, all ayes.  Mr. Snoeberger also reported that Officer Arron French attended a Fire Investigation class.    Ms. Jordan presented a recap of 2006 building permits. 

 

NEW BUSINESS

The City wide cleanup will occur on May 19th .  On the 18th  the City personnel will be pickup up the appliances.  The exceptions for what can be picked up will be advertised on channel 5.  Mr. Swift congratulated the street personnel on how well they handled the extreme amount of snow we had received. 

 

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS

Mr. Swift wanted to remind citizens to please contact the city first  if you are having water/sewage flow issue so that they do not incur an unnecessary cost that the City should bare. Ms. Negele reported that the Downtown Revitalization committee meeting was held on March 8th and that progress had been made on preparing questionnaires for the downtown property owners and the general public.  The next meeting will be held on March 26th as an open house for the general public from 6:30-8:00PM.  Mrs. Maus questioned the status on the nuisance dog on Council St.  Mr. Snoeberger had just issued an ordinance violation and would continue issuing them until the problem is solved.  Mr. Summers reported an extreme overpopulation of  feral cats located behind the Armory.  Mr. Swift responded with take care of them as soon as possible and to contact the citizen that is feeding them. 

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to come before the council, Mr. Askren made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Maus, all ayes.
