BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY

September 7, 2004

 

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 7th day of September at City hall at 5:30 p.m.  Members present: Mr. Deon Swift, Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Tom O’Conner and Ms. Sharon Negele.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on August 17th, 2004 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Swift.

 

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. O’Farrell reported favorable reception regarding the FEMA grant submission.  In addition, he mentioned that the matching funds requirement had a stipulation that funds must come from non-operating budget revenues.  The grant totals $52,000 with a ten percent match.  Ms. Jordan mentioned that Cingular would require to request conditional use of the proposed tower through the Zoning Board of Appeals and building permits for the buildings.  In addition, the Napa building is still considered work in progress.

 

CLAIMS

Claims in the amount of $189,406.70 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board.  Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Swift.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Mrs. Gustus made a motion to authorize bids to be published for the trash contract for the October 5^th meeting, seconded by Mr. Swift.

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board; Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Swift seconded the motion.
