BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY

 

April 6, 2010

 

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 6th day in March at City Hall at 4:30 p.m.  Members present:  Mr. Shepherd, Mr. Huckleberry and Mr. O’Connor.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on March 16, 2010 was approved as prepared on a motion by Mr. Huckleberry, seconded by Mr. Shepherd.

 

CITIZENS PETITIONS

Mr. Wayne Foster requested for the City to adjust the height on the water meter pit located at 604 S. McDonald.  He also requested that the City fix the edge of an alley behind his house.  Mr. Ron Jean stated that he would arrange for the pit to be moved to its proper height and would investigate his other request.

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. Jean reported there is a leak on S. Perry under the new blacktop and that we are waiting on the locate.  

Mr. Snoeberger reported that citizens were asking for a reprieve on ordinance violations due to the spring cleanup on May 15th.  He wanted the board to know that he’s been telling them that they have to clean up their violations now and are not allowed to place  objects for spring cleanup at the curbside until the week of cleanup.  Mr. Shepherd reiterated that it is the Wed before spring cleanup or May 12th. 

Mr. O’Farrell reported that he has received a quote for $2,530 for the overhead door openers but needs to confirm some of the details.  He also noted that the installation of these openers would eliminate the potential mishap of a door not being opened fully and then a truck trying to exit the building causing a potential collision.  Additionally the new engine was in the process of being decaled and should be in service by next week. 

Mr. Dismore reported that he has issued six new building/demolition permits and the property at 200 W Pike St. has removed the exhaust pipe from the side of the house and have attempted to clean the black soot on the side of the house.  He has also been inquiring on how to obtain the GIS program that 911 uses  that provides structure and street detail along with measuring capabilities.  He spoke with Joe Whitaker and he suggested for him to talk to the 911 director.  Mr. O’Connor asked if the board would continue the order to demolish on 104 Washington St. due to the Library board planning to meet and discuss the cost for demolition.  Mr. Huckleberry made a motion to continue the order and Mr. Shepherd seconded.

 

 

CLAIMS

Claims dated on April 6th 2010 for $458,506.71 as shown by the Claims and Allowance docket, was presented to the board.  Mr. Huckleberry made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Shepherd. 

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board;  Mr.  Huckleberry made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Shepherd seconded the motion.
