OF WORKS & SAFETY

20, 2005
The
Board of Works and Safety met on the 20th day of September at City Hall at 5:30
p.m. Members present: Mr. Deon Swift,
Mr. Duane Roderick, Mr. O’Connor and Ms. Sharon Negele.
APPROVAL
OF MINUTES
Minutes
of the regular session held on September 6, 2005 were approved as prepared on a
motion by Mr. Roderick, seconded by Mr. Swift, all ayes.
DEPARTMENT
HEADS
Mr.
Swift thanked everyone on the AFD for the professional manner in which the
department handled the damage assessment and demolition of the downtown
building. Mr. O’Farrell voiced concern over the condition of other downtown
buildings. Mr. O’Connor mentioned that
the building commissioner carries the power to condemn structures. Mr. Grant raised the issue of hiring a
structural engineer. Mr. Swift stated
that more thorough research on how other cities have handled this issue might
be in order.
NEW
BUSINESS
Mr.
Swift announced the cell site ceremony on Oct 5th at 11:00a.m. Mr. Swift asked about progression on the
tanker repair. Mr. O’Farrell replied that he is still working on alternatives
because welding will not repair all of the leaks.
CLAIMS
Claims
in the amount of 126,108.17 as shown by the Claims and Allowance docket, were
presented to the board. Mr. Roderick
made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Swift, all ayes.
ADJOURNMENT
There
being no further business to be brought before the board; Mr. Roderick made a
motion to adjourn and Mr. Swift seconded the motion, all ayes.
