BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY

September 6, 2005

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 6th day of September at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. Members present: Mr. Deon Swift, Mr. Duane Roderick Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. O’Connor and Ms. Sharon Negele.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on August 16, 2005 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Swift, all ayes.

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. Jean announced that the sewage plant roof repairs are complete. Mr. O’Farrell reported that the Ariel fire truck is back in service. The tanker will be repaired this weekend. Ms. Jordan confirmed that an ordinance violation will be issued on the torn down Butler property which required hauling all materials away. There is also a trailer down and the trailer court owner has been notified. The owner of the trailer court has 30 days to respond. A letter will be sent to Don Butler regarding the burned house on Market Street and he will have 30 days to respond. The fire-damaged house on Perry Street is in the process of demolition.The house on Washington has a pending sale which will involve the demolition of the property. Both the Spangler and Bieneman property will require action regarding trash.

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Swift presented a quote from Bob Criswell for refurbishing the cemetery garage roof for $3,400. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to accept the quote and Mr. Roderick seconded, all ayes.

CLAIMS

Claims in the amount of 195,627.45 as shown by the Claims and Allowance docket, were presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick, all ayes.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board; Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Swift seconded the motion, all ayes.
