BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY

June 21, 2005

 

 

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 7th day of June at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.  Members present: Mr. Deon Swift, Mrs. Kay Gustus and Ms. Sharon Negele.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on June 7, 2005 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Swift, all ayes.

 

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. Swift reported for Mr. Jean that new basketball goals/posts are being installed at McDonald Park.  Mr. Snoeberger announced the retirement of the Assistant Chief of Police, Bob Scherer. The merit board hired Mr. Ed Durnil as an officer. A new Assistant Chief will be announced at a later date.   Tammy Dickison has been hired as a part time Records Clerk for the Police Department.  On 6/21/05 the Attica police in conjunction with the Fountain Co. Sheriff’s Department had a seatbelt/child restraint blitz.  Sixteen seatbelt tickets and fifty-two car seats/booster seats were issued to violators.  The intent was to educate the public on the new child restraint laws. Violators who were provided with child restraints were not ticketed.   Mr. O’Farrell informed the board that a Letter of Approval to begin the Aerial repair must be sent. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to send the letter and Mr. Swift seconded.  Ms. Jordan reported receiving a letter from Mr. Jeff Bieneman regarding the unfinished status of 200 Columbia St. residence and his intent of completion.  She will be contacting him for an update.  Mr. Leon Rushin provided a copy of a deed reflecting ownership of the condemned Butler property.  Ms. Jordan will provide a letter explaining his obligations regarding the condemnation.  Mrs. Gustus inquired about the blue trailer in the trailer park that is pulled off the frame.  Ms. Jordan will contact Mr. Hardaway for an update on the removal of the unsafe structure.

 

CLAIMS

Claims in the amount of $127,009.39 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board.  Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Swift, all ayes.

 

 

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board; Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Swift seconded the motion, all ayes.
