BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY

May 17, 2005

 

 

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 17th day of May at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.  Members present: Mr. Deon Swift, Mrs. Gustus, Mr. O’Connor and Ms. Sharon Negele.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on May 3rd, 2005 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Roderick, all ayes.

 

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. Jean reported that the pool is ready to be filled and will be ready to open on Sunday, May 29th.

  Mrs. Gustus asked Mr. Snoeberger if he could check into the removal of the semi parked in front of the recently sold house on Brady.

  Mr. O’Farrell informed the board that he conversed with Midwest Fire (Dealer) regarding the damaged Aerial and that a Pierce representative would be there to inspect early next week.  If the basket can be repaired then the cost will be $28,500.  Basket replacement would cost $50,000.  All this information has been sent to the insurance company.  He also included that there was a fire in Newtown and they were able to use the Aerial as a Pumper and it functioned well. 

 Ms. Jordan reported that the garage on the Greer property has been torn down.  There were several properties given to Mr. O’Connor’s office for notices to be sent.  The Butler properties deadline for action concerning its condemnation will occur on 5/20/05.   

 

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Roderick made a motion to accept the Fortis/Assurant bid for employee health insurance.  Mrs. Gustus seconded the motion, all ayes.

 

CLAIMS

Claims in the amount of $79,885.44 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board.  Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick, all ayes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board; Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Roderick seconded the motion, all ayes.
