BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY

December 7, 2004

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 7th day of December at City hall at 5:30 p.m. Members present: Mr. Deon Swift, Mrs. Kay Gustus and Ms. Sharon Negele.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on November 16th, 2004 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Swift, all ayes.

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mrs. Kay Gustus reported a trash nuisance property to Mr. Snoeberger. Ms. Jordan reported that two of the three problem properties have been resolved. The other property has a verbal agreement regarding the time frame on repair. Additional properties have also made verbal agreements on repair and will be checked later for compliance. Ms. Jordan will ask Tom O’Conner to send a letter to the owner of the Napa building and a letter to the owner of Dollar General. The letters will address timing of completion on the tear down of the old Napa building and repair of Dollar General awning. The Corp. of Engineers sent an email stating that the property is all clear for the tower construction. In addition, the Walter Bell property is being prepared for demolition.

CLAIMS

Claims in the amount of $393,887.06 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Swift, all ayes.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board; Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Swift seconded the motion, all ayes.
