BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY

May 18, 2004

 

 

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 18th day of May at City hall at 5:30 p.m.  Members present: Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Duane Roderick, Mr. Deon Swift, Mr. O’Connor and Mrs. Sharon Negele.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on May 3rd, 2004 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Roderick.

 

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. Jean told the board that the survey for the Perry Street project has begun. Pool is up and running and everything looks good.

Chief Snoeberger reported that the department has received a grant to purchase new bulletproof vests. The city will pay 50% of the $6900 total cost. The Quad runners should be delivered in a week. Utility vehicles are also in the process of being shipped.

Ms. Jordan informed the board that she has received several complaints on the condition of the NAPA building.  Road conditions at the Booth Trailer Park are also an issue. Mr. O’Connor will contact the owner, Bill Gardner.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

The property at 1104 N. Perry has been abandoned. Property owner Lonnie Smith is deceased and relatives have no interest in the property. The city has cleaned up the property and the appropriate further action will be taken.

                                                                                  

 

NEW BUSINESS

Several dog incidents have been reported and need to be addressed.

Also there are several homes with trash sitting on the curb. The police dept. will start issuing ordinance violations if not cleaned up by Friday May 21st.

 

 

CLAIMS

Claims in the amount of 69,121.13 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board.  Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick.

 

 

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board, Mr. Roderick made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Gustus.
