CITY OF ATTICA
BOARD OF WORKS & SAFETY
May 4, 2004
The Board of Works and Safety met on the 4th day of May at City hall at 5:30 p.m. Members present: Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Deon Swift, Mr. O’Connor and Mrs. Sharon Negele.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the regular session held on April 20th, 2004 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Swift.
DEPARTMENT HEADS Mr. Swift informed the board that many vehicles have been tagged. The department plans to continue tagging.
Ms. Jordan gave an update on properties in the city. Many notices have gone out to owners of problem properties. If they do not comply City Attorney Tom O’Connor will take it from there. The property of Lonnie Smith was discussed. The owner is deceased and the relatives are not interested in it. Mr. O’Connor will research potential purchasers for the property. The city will be responsible for the upkeep of the yard until ownership changes hands.
NEW BUSINESS Mrs. Gustus asked about the ordinance involving the parking of RVs. There is a home on Maple Street with a RV that extends the whole length of the driveway causing the cars to park on the sidewalk. Ms. Jordan agreed to investigate the situation.
CLAIMS Claims in the amount of 143,897.88 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Swift.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to be brought before the board, Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Swift.
