BOARD OF WORKS AND SAFETY

APRIL 1, 2003

 

 

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 1st day of April 2003 at city hall at 5:30 p.m. Members present: Mr. Duane Roderick, Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Tom O’Connor, Mr. Deon Swift, and Mrs. Nancy Mitchell.

 

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

Minutes of the March 18, 2003 meeting were approved as prepared on a motion by Mr. Roderick, seconded by Mrs. Gustus. All ayes.

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mr. Ron Jean, Director of Public Works, reported on the water project. He said they would be working on Pike Street on Wednesday, New Street on Thursday, two or three days on Perry Street; then they would check to make certain all is working correctly before doing clean-up and black topping.

 

Police Chief Gene Snoeberger stated his department was still addressing parking issues in all areas of town. Today they began issuing orange tags for junked, unlicensed vehicles. He is compiling a list of properties for junk refuse accumulation in violation of city ordinance.

 

Mayor Swift reported for Ms. Jordan who was absent. She is still working on the Hoffa houses—Mr. John Hoffa is in Florida. Also, the burned trailer in Lambert Trailer Court has been removed.

 

CLAIMS

Mrs. Mitchell reported the server had gone back in her office and a new one had to be purchased. She reported that Computers Made Easy had quoted $6,500 and the server had been ordered. Mr. Huckleberry and Mr. Grant said they were giving her too much for what her office needed. Mr. Huckleberry was going to speak with Computers Made Easy and then contact other companies for further quotes.

 

Claims in the amount of $59,998.85 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick.

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board, Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Roderick.
