BOARD OF WORKS AND SAFETY

FEBRUARY 18, 2003

 

 

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 18th day of February 2003 at city hall at 5:30 p.m.  Members present:  Mr. Duane Roderick, Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Tom O’Connor, Mr. Deon Swift, and Mrs. Nancy Mitchell.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the February 4, 2003 meeting were approved as prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Roderick.  All ayes.

 

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mayor Swift, on behalf of the board and the City of Attica, extended condolences to Police Chief Gene Snoeberger upon the recent death of his father, Wayne Snoeberger.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Mr. O’Connor reported to the board we had received one bid from Jimmy Taylor Demolition & Excavation in the amount of $1,750 for the removal of a burned trailer in the Lambert Trailer Court.  Mrs. Gustus made a motion to table this proceeding for one month until Mr. O’Connor writes to Mr. Richard Stairs, owner of the trailer court, regarding the burned trailer once again, seconded by Mr. Roderick.  All ayes.

 

Building Commissioner Bunny Jordan reported on several properties owned by Mr. Hoffa that were in appalling condition.  Notices have been sent to him giving him thirty days to respond to the problems.  Much discussion was held between the board and Ms. Jordan upon her descriptions of these properties.  Ms. Jordan also said a notice had been sent to Mr. Chris Small, who owns property at 108 North Perry Street regarding the condition of his building.  Mr. O’Connor is going to write him a letter requesting his presence at the next Board of Works meeting

 

Mayor Swift reported to the board that the new equipment for the Waste Water Treatment Plant had been ordered.

 

CLAIMS

Claims, in the amount of 86,825.42 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board.  Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick.  All ayes.

 

ADJOURNMENT 

There being no further business to be brought before the board, Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Roderick.  All ayes.
