CITY OF ATTICA
BOARD OF WORKS AND SAFETY
JANUARY 28, 2003
The Board of Works and Safety met on the 28th day
of January 2003 at city hall at 5:30 p.m.
Members present: Mr. Duane Roderick,
Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Tom O’Connor, Mr. Deon Swift, and Mrs. Nancy Mitchell.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes of the January 7, 2003 meeting were approved as
prepared on a motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Swift.
DEPARTMENT HEADS
Fire Chief Ed O’Farrell reported there was a water leak in
the office of the fire department due to a frozen drain pipe on the outside of
the building. Mayor Swift said he would
have someone look into solving the problem.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Mr. O’Connor opened bids for the demolition of 201 West
Logan Street. Those received were: C & C Construction at $10,000 and Jimmy
Taylor Demolition & Excavation at $4,950.
Mrs. Gustus made a motion to accept Mr. Taylor’s bid at $4,950, seconded
by Mr. Roderick. All ayes.
NEW BUSINESS
Mayor Swift made a motion to the board for approval to sign
the contract with Hannum, Wagle & Cline to prepare an IDEM “Notice of
Intent” to construct a water and sewer extension to the south campground area
with the owner agreeing to reimburse the city for it’s estimated $1,000
expense, seconded by Mrs. Gustus. All
ayes.
CLAIMS
Claims, in the amount of $90,219.11 as shown by the claims
and allowance docket, were presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr.
Roderick. All ayes.
MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
Members of the board held a discussion regarding permission
for citizens to let water lightly run from faucets during freezing weather.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to be brought before the
board, Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Roderick. All ayes.
