OF WORKS AND SAFETY

The
Board of Works and Safety met on the 21st day of May 2002 at city
hall at 5:30 p.m. Members present: Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Duane Roderick, Mr. Tom
O’Connor, Mr. Deon Swift, and Mrs. Nancy Mitchell.
APPROVAL
OF MINUTES
Minutes
of the regular session held on May 7, 2002 were approved as prepared on a
motion by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Roderick.
CITIZENS
PETITIONS
A
discussion was held concerning a dead tree located at 929 South Perry Street
between the sidewalk and street. City
Attorney Tom O’Connor said it was the homeowner’s responsibility to take care
of the removal. Mr. O’Connor said he
would contact the owner by letter.
DEPARTMENT
HEADS
Police
Chief Gene Snoeberger reported thirty-three children had participated in the
Bike Rodeo. He and his department were
pleased with the results despite the inclement weather. There were extra helmets remaining and they
would be used next year.
Mr.
Brent Sichts, Animal Control Officer, requested permission from the board to
purchase a new dart gun for the Animal Shelter. Mrs. Gustus made a motion for Mr. Sichts to purchase the dart gun
for $382.97, seconded by Mr. Roderick.
UNFINISHED
BUSINESS
Mr.
McDivitt, owner of the Red Barn Restaurant, was present and assured the board
that he had contacted Jimmy Taylor to remove the debris left from tearing down
the burned out building; it would be completed within a few days.
CLAIMS
Claims
in the amount of $70,877.47 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were
presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus
made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick.
