OF WORKS & SAFETY

The
Board of Works and Safety met on the 5th day of February 2002 at
city hall at 5:30 p.m. Members
present: Mr. Duane Roderick, Mrs. Kay
Gustus, Mr. Deon Swift, Mr. Tom O’Connor, and Mrs. Nancy Mitchell.
APPROVAL
OF MINUTES
Minutes
of the regular session held on January 15, 2002 were approved as prepared on a
motion by Mr. Roderick, seconded by Mrs. Gustus. All ayes.
DEPARTMENT
HEADS
Mr.
Robert Smith, Director of Public Works, said city employees had been working in
Ravine Park the past week cleaning up winter rubbish. Mr. Smith suggested that sometime in the future, an ice rink
could be created in the racetrack area.
The board will take it into consideration.
Fire
Chief Ed O’Farrell said the preliminary figures for 2001 were 214 runs; 14 runs
down from year 2000. Mayor Swift asked
if he had EMS Run figures from last year but those were not yet available.
Chief
Ed O’Farrell reported that the owner of the downtown game room had been
requested to make certain improvements but as to date, none had been
accomplished. The owner had been given
a specific time limit to make the specified improvements. Chief O’Farrell was monitoring the
situation.
CLAIMS
Claims
in the amount of $103,405.67 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were
presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus
made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick. All ayes.
ADJOURNMENT
There
being no further business to be brought before the board, Mrs. Gustus made a
motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Roderick.
All ayes.
