BOARD OF WORKS AND SAFETY

OCTOBER 15, 2002

The Board of Works and Safety met on the 15^th day of October 2002 at city hall at 5:30 p.m. Members present: Mr. Duane Roderick, Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Deon Swift, and Mrs. Nancy Mitchell. Absent: Mr. Tom O’Connor.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on October 1, 2002 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mr. Roderick, seconded by Mr. Swift.

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Mayor Swift announced the Fire Department had received a $60,000 FEMA Grant for air packs. The department will have to fund ten per cent of the grant. Mayor Swift extended his congratulations to Fire Chief O’Farrell who has been working on this for some time.

NEW BUSINESS

Mayor Swift informed all those present that the state has given the ok and we will begin work on the North End Project.

CLAIMS

Claims, in the amount of $76,696.19 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were presented to the board. Mrs. Gustus made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Roderick.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board, Mrs. Gustus made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Roderick.
