BOARD OF WORKS AND SAFETY

FEBRUARY 19, 2001

 

 

The Board of Works and Safety of the City of Attica met on the 19^th day of February 2001 at city hall at 5:30 p.m.  Members present:  Mr. Roger Scheurich, Mrs. Kay Gustus, Mr. Deon Swift, Mr. Tom O'Connor, and Mrs. Nancy Beck.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on February 6, 2001 were approved as prepared on a motion by Mr. Scheurich, seconded by Mrs. Gustus.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Curt Phelps, on behalf of Wabash Valley Disposal, was present and petitioned the board for an increase to the contract for waste removal and disposal for the City of Attica.  The request is a result of a 28% increase in landfill fees that they received notice of effective January 1, 2001.  Their request is for an additional 11%, which equates to eighty-five cents per water tap, for a sum of eight dollars and sixty cents per water tap.  Mr. Scheurich made a motion, based upon the verification by the mayor and city attorney, that the Board of Works accept the escalation of eight-five cents per meter, seconded by Mrs. Gustus.  All ayes.  This increase would be in effect at next billing. 

 

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS

Mayor Swift informed the board that the city has signed the Mutual Aid Agreement for fire protection with Wayne Township Fire Department.

 

CLAIMS

Claims in the amount of $89,151.64 as shown by the claims and allowance docket, were allowed and ordered paid on a motion from Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Scheurich.

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be brought before the board, the motion to adjourn was made by Mrs. Gustus, seconded by Mr. Scheurich.
