1872 WEDDING BOAT PICTURE

A wedding party is about to board a packet boat on the old Wabash and Erie Canal, at one time Attica's important artery of transportation.

This photo was taken in l872. The principals in the wedding were Miss Louise Kupp and Ed Lippold, who were married in the Lippold home on the second floor of the old two-story brick building, which stood on the northwest corner of South Perry and Jackson Streets.

The principals and guests paraded from the Lippold home to the canal dock at the foot of East Main Street, headed by the old Attica Band. Once aboard the packet they journeyed up the canal to Maysville, which was two miles beyond Riverside. The building shown in the picture was the old Foundry.
